THE Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital is 75% complete and on track to open at the end of the year.

Hospital CEO Kimberley Pierce said development was progressing well and the plans were to admit patients from December.

"The 200-bed hospital will provide a wide range of medical and surgical services to residents of the Sunshine Coast," she said.

In the coming month, the facade of the building should be finished, along with the wall and ceiling sheeting to all six operating theatres.

The multibillion-dollar Health Hub adjacent to the Kawana hospital precinct reached a new milestone last week with the launch of Pulse Oceanside Medical.

Construction of the six-level centre, which will be located directly opposite the proposed entrance to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and diagonally opposite the private hospital, will be handled by developer Evans Long, which has a history of building medical suites on the Sunshine Coast.

Its doors won’t open until 2016, but there’s already plenty happening behind the scenes of the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.

Meet the man who has the monumental task of delivering the project on time and on budget.

CONSTRUCTION on the Sunshine Coast University Hospital will start three months ahead of schedule in October.

Premier Campbell Newman visited Nambour General Hospital today to formally announce the Public Private Partnership with Exemplar Health.

He said the consortium included Lend Lease, Spotless Group, Capella Capital and Siemens, and would build then maintain the hospital for 25 years.

"This institution will be the centrepiece of a Kawana Health Campus with a co-located private hospital, parking for 3,500 cars and a Skills, Academic and Research Centre. "

Premier Newman confirmed the LNP Government would shave $250 million off the $2.03 billion project.

He said the savings had come from a competitive tender process.

But the figures revealed in the latest 2012-13 State of the Regions Report do not paint the full picture.

One of Australia's premier economists, Dr Ian Manning, believes the Sunshine Coast is perfectly poised for a prosperous future. He is not alone.

Consensus across the region is that we have "hit bottom and the only way is up".
